The three working units
In every project the three units work together seamlessly, ensuring that the needs of the ocean is met alongside those of the economy and the people.
BLUE UNIT
Restoring the functional completeness of our oceans
To do this, we are working across the whole of the ocean to increase the abundance of all the key habitats and key species that sustain this unique marine ecosystem and all its biodiversity. The goal is to ensure the ecosystem functions of the ocean on which we all depend. This includes, among other things, the defense of the shorelines, the sequestration of carbon, and food chain security.
Blue Unit
Rebuilding and preventing further loss of the key marine habitats and key species that sustain the functional completeness of the ocean, of which biodiversity is the foundation:
- Seagrass meadows
- Seaweeds
- Coral reefs
- Oyster reefs
- Fish stocks
- Mangroves
- Salt marshes
- Megafauna
- Deep-sea habitats
Objective:
Rebuilding marine life
KPI:
100% Ocean completeness
BROWN UNIT
Building an ocean-positive economy for our blue prosperity
To achieve this, two things are critical. First, building an ocean-positive economy, especially in the sectors that have the greatest impact on ocean health. And secondly, making investing in thriving marine life economically profitable.
Brown Unit
Building an ocean-positive economy in the areas that most affect the health of the ocean:
- Finance & Investment
- Industry
- Agriculture
- Fishery
- Tourism
- Cities
- Shipping & trade
Objective:
Building an ocean-positive economy
KPI:
100% Blue prosperity
GREEN UNIT
Building an ocean-connected society for our new blue culture
This working unit has a key role to play, as changes in lifestyles and cultural patterns are very difficult to impose “from above.” Therefore, we work to accurately develop a new ocean-positive social culture into people’s existing lifestyles based on their actual identities and previously practiced lifestyles.
Green Unit
Building a strong human-ocean relationship that replaces the current relationship of exploitation, control and fear that only feeds the illusion of separation and supremacy over the ocean. This new, solid relationship is a true reconnection of our global society with our origin: the ocean.
Objective:
Building an ocean-connected society
KPI:
100% Blue culture
